The star has handed over the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to save the UK's small concert spaces.
Fender was awarded the award on 16 October as his third album People Watching was declared the outstanding release of the last 12 months.
He has decided to donate the funds to the trust, in appreciation of the crucial part grassroots venues fulfilled in his initial steps.
"I personally would not have achieved what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the gigs I did around the area, and further afield, when I was just getting going," remarked the artist. "These venues are legendary, but they are in difficulty."
Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these spaces have shut down – about one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.
In the last year, major artists such as Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to support the industry, by applying a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which supports local stages.
Fender also participated, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to support 38 small stages across Britain.
The money helped locations that were confronting possible closure due to difficulties arising from flooding, fires and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and sound issues.
Other venues obtained funding support in improving infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that helped musicians and concertgoers.
"The notion that money from concerts in major spaces helps the independent spots, where it begins for performers like me, is just sensible," Fender has commented.
Fender is not the first artist to give his award winnings to charitable organizations.
When they won the prize in the mid-90s for their release Different Class, vocalist the singer stated that the act would give their prize money to the organization the charity.
During 2002, musician she divided her bounty among several charities, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.
"And I gave a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they required updated gear," she told the media.
Previously, they donated their prize money to the youth organization that supported their group, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.
And the 1994 recipients M People gave their award to a charity for MS after a close contact was diagnosed the condition.
"The victory was ample," stated vocalist the singer. "The cash was the extra but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the honor. So our success touched the lives of others."
Last week, the MVT shared it had rescued a couple of local spots in that region, by transferring them to community ownership.
One venue in the city and The Croft in that location were bought under the Own Our Venues scheme, which is backed by a national body and music fans who buy "stakes" in the properties.
